Gatka - The Martial Arts Of Sikhism

People perform the traditional Gatka martial arts they have learned and pay their respects to
'Baba Deep Singh Ji' at shahidan sahib Gurudwara on his birthday every year, for his sacrifice and bravery for sikhism.
Baba Deep Singh had vowed to avenge the desecration of the Gurudwara by Afghan invaders. The Sikhs and the Afghans clashed in the Battle of Amritsar on 17th century, and finally Baba Deep Singh was decapitated.
'Gatka' is considered as a battle technique. Today it is used to showcase self defence and fighting skills of Sikhism.
